This charity event was organised by Halifax Calder Rotary Club along with partners including Overgate Hospice, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, Halifax Charity Gala, TAP Events, West Yorkshire Police and Calderdale Council. The Rotary Clubs of Elland, Halifax and Sowerby Bridge also assisted at the event.

The Mayor of Calderdale Coun. Ferman Ali and the Mayoress Shaheen Ali attended to officially open the event and led the countdown to the firework display.

They also joined the first of the spooky walks through the woods to the hall where scary actors and props brought a Halloween shiver to the walkers.

The crowds were entertained by a red-hot show from fire eater James Walker. TAP Entertainment judged a scariest costume competition and the night ended with a magnificent fireworks display. There were also numberer attractions and charity stalls.

Event organiser Peter Hanson, from Halifax Calder Rotary Club, said: “We are delighted that this year’s event was supported by so many visitors who have harped to raise a considerable amount of money for local charities and at the same time having a good night out. All proceeds from this event go to support local charities.

“We hope to see people return for next year’s event.”
